Redding has been home to many great businesses and special places over the years, many of which have long since disappeared. Reach way back into your memory banks to tell us about some of the cool places you remember from Redding’s past that are now gone. Whether it was a restaurant, arcade, pharmacy, pizza place, department store, or whatever, it doesn’t matter. If it was cool and no longer exists, we want to hear about it.

This isn’t a hard rule, but it’ll be more interesting if we can try to limit ourselves to one description per post. If possible, please include memories of your experiences there, specific location details, a description of what’s there now, and any photos you may have.

This topic was inspired by a couple of recent posts on Marc Beauchamp’s blog at the Record Searchlight on remembering “old Redding” (read part 1 and part 2). Seeing that many cool places did not receive their props there, I thought this would be a worthy topic for the Amigos Locos to weigh in on here. It’s a little bit like our Favorite Establishments topic, but specifically focused on places that no longer exist. Plus, that was eight years ago.

A note to our readers:
Considering the age range of our authors, we’ll mostly be covering places that existed from the 1970’s onward. If you can think of any places we’ve missed, please leave us a comment or two.
